The Guild represents their interests of journalists, photographers and commercial communication specialists working in agriculture, horticulture and other rural industries. It promotes high standards through a training course for new entrants and writing, broadcasting and photography awards for established members. The Guild also encourages a community spirit through national and regional events, and regular news and information on its website about members and the publications and agencies for whom they work. The Guild is affiliated to the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (www.ifaj.org
), providing access to a network of contacts around the world and the opportunity to attend the annual Congress, which includes press briefing visits to farms and other rural industries in the host country.
